We are Free Conscience, a grassroots group of state employees and supporters uniting against WFSE and the State as our employer, for their unconstitutional practices, unfair labor practices and forced union dues/fees. We defend our Constitutional rights and intend to preserve freedom of association.

Free Conscience was started by Cheryl Conn, but we have grown from that.  Even though we have varying backgrounds and beliefs, we discovered we have one thing in common.  We did not like being lied to and cheated out of our right for a democratic vote.

Some of us are anti-union, have been our entire life.  Some of us are strongly pro-union.  A few of us even sat in the negotiations for the current contract who told the rest of us they were apauled by the directions the current unions were taking.  They quit their membership and formed this group against the WFSE.

Another group took a different tactic.  They formed their own labor union to fight the WPEA.  You can find their history in their website - www.fairwa.org.

When we realized we were fighting against the same injustice, we joined forces.

So, who are we really?  We are a group of individuals fighting against a common foe - injustice.  We support democracy, and truth, and informed choices.  We have no financial support from large organizations, we struggle with how to get the information out.  We scraped our money together to put 2 ads in the local newspaper.  And, mostly, we need your help.  We need you to educate yourself and share this word.

The really simple message is we can call for a vote.  This vote is called by each bargaining unit.  We need signature cards (it is called a decertification vote) from 30% of a bargaining unit to call for a PERC administered vote for that unit.  This is a lot of people.  We need your help to get cards in.  PERC will administer the mail in ballot vote.  We believe they will support the process to get us a democratic vote.
