  •  Can they fire me for attending a decertification informational meeting or signing a decertification card?

The quick answer is no.  They can't do anything legally to you for seeking any information or carrying thru with your right to know what your rights are.

The less flip anwer, though, is sadly, that these guys believe they own you, and will try to harrass you.  No, this is NOT legal.  In fact it is very illegal to intimidate you as we have seen them do.  They don't think you will stand up for your rights.  Do you really want to live this way for the rest of your carreer?  Let's vote them out, or at least let them know they can't get away with 'ruling' with the fear and intimadation tactics they have been using.

  •  The unions report that there was a fair vote.  True?

Totally FALSE.  PERC has finally ruled that the way the union performed their farse of a 'vote'.

The really sad news is we were granted no remedy.  Their 'punishment' is to publish the fact that their vote sucked!  Works for them, they get to keep taking the $32 million a year to the bank.  Us?  We get to see if we can gather up 30% each bargaining unit to be able to decertify unit by unit.

  •  What's this I hear about relieving all rights to public disclosure about union contract negotiations?  Could this be true?

Yes, in 2007 they tried a bunch of legislative bills introduced which will strengthen the unions' hold on all of us.  But, even with their new found Democratic majority, and lots of your money from your union dues in their pocket these were not passed.  We have tesified against them, and EFF got media coverage on this. Sorry to say that the media coverage was the most effective against it.  The public outcry was huge, so they had to back off.  I'm sure it will be back, and who knows in what form.
