Our Charter:

The organization will be known as Free Conscience, Inc.

Mission Statement:

FreeConscience.org believes that an employee of the State of Washington has the Constitutional freedom and right to decide to join, not join, support financially or not support financially any organization. Our mission is to provide education and action to assure State of Washington employees this freedom by opposing WFSE’s "Fair Share" and any other such provision.

Position Statement:

Free Conscience is a not-for-profit organization fundamentally opposed to forced unionism in Washington State government. We believe the freedom to choose which groups to support and which not to support must be left with the individual. We are NOT anti-union, but we do believe WFSE has lost its way, and is more interested in building its own empire within AFSCME / AFL-CIO than it is in representing Washington state workers. We fully support the freedom of any group of workers to form a union, as long as it remains voluntary. We will fight the forced unionism of Fair Share on several fronts including outreach and education, assistance for affected workers, litigation, lobbying for right-to-work legislation, and assisting interested employees with preparing to obtain de-certification of WFSE. Indivduals associated with Free Conscience are respected by one another, can work toward the mutual objectives at their own discretion, and have the absolute right to have their own personal opinion on any matter!

Objectives:

The overall goal is elimination of "Fair Share". To that end we have 4 main objectives:

  1. Provide education and resources to employees fighting "Fair Share" via outreach activities and www.FreeConscience.org.

  2. Eliminate or reduce the WFSE "service fee" via litigation.

  3. Lobby to gain passage of state or federal (or both) legislation to ban "Fair Share" practices.

  4. Decertify WFSE as soon as possible, if objectives 2 and 3 fail.
