Originally from Michigan, Mike Farley served 20 years in the Air Force. He retired to middle Tennessee where he worked as an organizational development consultant in both private practice and for the University of Tennessee's Center for Government Training, while at the same time running a bed and breakfast. Moving to Washington in 1993, Mike went to work for DSHS, then changed over to Labor & Industries. Since 1990, much of his spare time has been given over to Habitat for Humanity. With that organization he has served on a number of committees and boards, spent most week-ends as a crew chief, and participates in an overseas project each year.
