Taking A Stand

For Washington State Employees and Those Who Support Them In Recovering Their Constitutional Rights.

Preserving our Rights
In the state of Washington, public employee unions -- with help from their friends in high places in state government in exchange for political donations -- were allowed to require all state employees pay these unions money without a democratic vote.  This happened with the full knowledge and support of state elected and administrative officials.  We agree with both the U.S. and State of Washington constitutions that each individual has the right to freedom of association and the right to due process.  Our organizations exists for the purpose of preserving the truth about these acts, and to work toward recovering our rights and ending politician-sponsored extortion.

To this end, we have established this website to help in the coordination efforts to free our conscience that we have done our part to resist. Join our resistance efforts to fight big union boss takeover of the democratic process.  Resist them as individuals.  Do your best to not pay their takeover of Washington state employees rights.   Let your voice be heard and counted.  With your money, these big union bosses are buying political power to force others into the same indenture.

Things you can do - First, be sure you are registered to vote in every election while we still have a democracy.  Check your union sites for their recommendations on how to vote and vote against them.  Let your vote count.

Another thing would be to get involved in our organization.  Send us your contact information on our feedback page.  The main need is a person in every agency to coordinate and be the contact for decertification efforts.  Next is to sign decertification cards and get everyone you know to sign one too.

Lastly, but certainly not least is to act individually to not pay the union fees.  This is done by filing for non association.  It is your right and will free your conscience that you have not contributed to this unworthy cause.

Do everything you can to free your conscience that you have not supported them.

Thank You…to those of you who signed decertification cards / forms.  It was a good effort, unfortunately we failed to get the needed count.  Our next window will be in about two years.  We’ll be asking for your signatures again then.  Please do not give up.  Perserverance will prevail!

To those of you who have not signed a decertification card/form, We hope you will reconsider when the opportunity comes again. This is like a petition to get an issue on the ballot for a vote by the people.   By law, a petition needs a certain number of signatures to be placed on the ballot. The same is true for a decertification election.  In order to be a truly democratic process, ALL employees should be allowed to vote on this issue.  A decertification election is the ONLY way to get that vote. We hope you reconsider signing a card/form next time–Pleass allow democracy a chance to thrive! Thank you again.

Free Conscience is a group of individuals from diverse backgrounds, religions, beliefs and political affiliations seeking to recover our state and federal Constitutional Rights stolen from us by a conspiracy between the state of Washington and the public employee unions (WSFE, WPEA, etc).  It was founded by Cheryl Conn -- a former union official who resigned her position within the union when the corrupt game plan became apparent.  Free Conscience is a not-for-profit organization on file with the Secretary of State.

The Story of Justice Denied!

Up until July 1, 2005, WE the Washington State employees (who were already represented by a union – whether we knew it not), had the “legal” right to vote on whether or not we wanted Union Security in our contracts.  WAC-356-42-042  /  Full Chapter WAC-356

Union Security is the language in the contract that says “Pay Up or Be Fired”!

We were further guaranteed the right to vote on the issue of Union Security by signed agreements between the contract negotiators.  (See
WPEA Signed Agreement OR WFSE Signed Agreement.)

The Unions absolutely “DENIED” us that vote by disinformation about the vote as well as deliberately holding back information about the vote.

The Unions openly admit they denied us that vote.  (See
newsletter1 or newsletter2  here.)

PERC Ruled the Unions denied us that vote.  (
Snipet of Ruling  OR  Full Ruling)

The remedy to PERC’s ruling was to order a New Vote.  (
Snipet of Remedy from Ruling)

However, the original remedy was replaced with a NEW remedy that didn't remedy anything.  That amended remedy simply ordered the Unions to Post an apology and vow to never do that again.  (
Snipet of Remedy from Amended Ruling  OR  Full Amended Ruling)

And the message to us poor souls who were DENIED that vote…Too Bad.  So Sad.  Just live with it!

IS THAT JUSTICE!?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

A Threat to Justice ANYWHERE is a Threat to Justice EVERYWHERE!

And until we get that vote, which was promised to us, guaranteed to us, and is our legal, moral, and ethical right, Union Security should NEVER be allowed in ANY contract.  Not the 2005-2007 contract, not the 2007-2009 contract, not the 2009-2011 contract.  No union security until a proper vote has been conducted!  Period!

We are currently fighting to get that vote through the “real” court system.  However, that legal process could drag on for years.  So what can we do in the mean time?

Since the unions are “unwilling” to give us that vote, the Decertification Process is the ONLY option left to us.  The Decertification Process is a democratic process that gives us three options…

1)      We can assert we want to keep the current union as is – no change

2)      We can petition for a new union

3)      We can remove a union presence altogether

Unfortunately this process is only available every 2 years.  This time has now passed for the 2009-2011 contract.  We thank all who were involved this time around and signed their cards.  Don't give up hope, We get this chance every 2 years.  If you want to take advantage of any one of these options, you will NEED to sign a "Decertification” card/form during an open decertification window and mail it to the address indicated on that form.  When that window does open, we have only a short time to present our “showing of interest”   Please give us your contact information so we can inform you, or keep in contact so you can help us plan the next effort.
